The Way to Santiago

Welcome!

I've created this website partly, and unashamedly, to promote my book :-), and also to provide useful links to websites dealing with the Camino pilgrimages in Spain, as it's close to my heart and has enriched my life through walking the various pilgrimage routes on the Way of Saint James. In 2010 nearly 280,000 people completed the Camino and arrived safely at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. What's the attraction and why has the pilgrimage suddenly become more and more popular in a time when the Christian faith in the West is in retreat? With this book I've tried to answer those questions, among others.

The Way

My book covers the Portuguese, French and Via de La Plata routes and combines an introduction to the pilgrimage experience, with an open-hearted and honest account of what it's like to be a 21st century pilgrim. It's especially a personal account of my own physical and mental battles en route and what walking the Camino has done for me.

In total I covered a distance of more than 2000 kilometers walking the various routes and this is the story of the journey I made, including many color photos, maps and my equipment list.

To preview or purchase a copy of my book please click on the front cover on the left to go to the online store. An e-book version will also soon be available and if you have any questions feel free to drop me a line via the contact form.
